The brief was to create an elegant yet grounded dining room table. This is primarily achieved through the tapered underneath of the top, making the 6mm Richlite top appear to be the overall thickness. The use of digital manufacture allowed for a ‘fluid’ bond between leg and top. Legs and stringer slot and are bonded into a large structural plate of the same material (oak) seamlessly, which is then mechanically fixed to the 24mm plywood substrate of the 6mm Richlite top. This allows the top to be removable for ease of installation, transport and later replacement without replacing the entire table.
